In response to: great church parodies

Interesting videos. Good luck sneaking them in there on sunday though, pretty sure that A/V board is guarded pretty carefully ;) Plus, you would need to get there early to do that...that's not so much your style is it? :) Haha. Just kidding...sort of... :)

In response to: The Church You Know

PS: forgot to thank palletjackracer for pointing me to that site in the first place! (sorry)

I really like the idea of combining video like that (which people are likely to forward) with the solid text to drive it home. Makes for a pretty effective 5 minute sermon.

In response to: Great Article

One other comment....one part of the book I mention in the article that really hit home with me was the whole 'what makes you feel like a success' concept....and the importance of making more of your life choices around that, than around what others define as success. Not entirely sure what I see as success...besides feeling content and at peace that I am following where God is leading (that's really the major one), but I know what it isn't...its not the type of materialistic success defined by corporate america. Guess identifying what it isn't is just as helpful as deciding what it is. Helps in the re-focusing process (at least its helpful to me anyways). Ok, enough rambling for me!

In response to: Great Article

Thanks for the encouraging comment, Paul :)

I know what you mean about dealing with the whining and the questions, but when God convicts you about a decision, you need to remember that He will be there to help you deal with the whining and the questions that come along as a result :) Guess its mostly just coming to terms with the fact that we can't please everyone, and whenever we try, we usually just end up feeling frustrated and drained. After all, people in your life that can't understand that you need to do what you know is right for you and your family obviously aren't very supportive friends, are they?

Of course, for me the issue is usually trying to battle my own sense of responsibility and guilt about changing my schedule around than it is an issue with what others think about it. But God helps me through those issues as well when I sit back and stop being stubborn about it :)

As far as the more is always better concept, like you imply, quantity and quality typically have an inverse relationship. Focusing on too many things usually leaves me feeling drained and ultimately resenting all of my activities...rather than just resenting the few irritating culprits that are the real cause of the frustration.

Anyways, not saying that making the choices is always easy, because it isn't, but I do believe its worth it in the long run. Actually, when you are following God's will for you, its always worth it, right?

Somewhere deep in my childhood I was taught the more was always better - when it comes to work and service. But the more I try to do, it seems the more I leave undone. Re-focus seems like a great idea, but I hate the whining and questions from the people who I have to say "no" to. So I tend to build up a whole lot of pain before I'm willing to prune the schedule monster.
